Thomas W. Mansur, Sr., 98, of Henniker died Saturday, May 16. Tom, as he was known to all who knew him, was born in Norwood, MA on November 2, 1927, to Frank and Marion Mansur. He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Barbara, whom he married in 1962.
After graduating from Swampscott High School in 1945, Tom joined the U.S. Navy, where he served on the USS Panamint. It was while on the Panamint that he witnessed the atomic bomb test at Bikini Atoll. After leaving the Navy, he attended the University of New Hampshire for one and a half years before joining the U.S. Air Force. Later he also served in the New Hampshire Air National Guard with the rank of Master Sargent. Tom was very proud of his military service.
Tom worked as a Civil Engineer Technician for the State of New Hampshire Department of Transportation. He was also a volunteer Firefighter with the Henniker Fire Department for 25 years. He was a member of the American Legion, and a member of the Masons for 40 years.
Tom is survived by his daughter Terri Chamberlain, her husband Frank, and their children Renee and Will, as well as his son Thomas W. Mansur, Jr., his wife Pana, and daughter Andria. He is also survived by his niece, Beth Mason and her husband Chip, and his nephew, Steven Hallett. He was also predeceased by two older sisters, Betty and Alice, and his older brother Dan.
A graveside service with military honors will take place on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 11:00am in Henniker New Cemetery, Henniker NH.
