Richard Nieder, Jr

Newbury, NH - Richard Nieder, Jr., 94, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025, at his home in the company of his daughter Jerilyn and son-in-law Ken. Born in Newark, NJ, on February 13, 1931, he was the only son of Richard and Wllye Grace Nieder. Richard was a graduate of Newark Academy and attended Rutgers College of Agriculture. He served his country in the Korean war. Richard married the love of his life, Nancy Jean Trube, on July 16, 1953. They raised a family in Somerset County, NJ, where he worked as a chemist and served as Assistant Captain of the Bridgewater Fire Department. He and his family enjoyed summer vacations camping in Gettysburg, New England, and the Canadian Maritimes. In 1980, Richard and Nancy moved to New Hampshire to fulfill their dream of owning a horse farm. Together with their daughter Jerilyn, they owned and operated Twin Ridge Farm in Warner, NH, until 2022. Always ready to serve, Richard sat on the board of the Community Action Program in Warner. Led by their love of the Lord, Richard and Nancy also established a mission in the African country of Rwanda to help empower women with the skills needed to support themselves and their families. Richard was an avid gardener, photographer, tractor enthusiast, and WWII history buff. He loved baking bread and sharing goodies with the folks working in the barn. All who knew him commented on what a kind, gentle person he was, always sharing a smile and words of encouragement. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life God provided: a cup of coffee, a good book, sitting with his dog by his side, or spending time visiting with family or friends in person or by phone. Richard was predeceased by his parents and his beloved wife Nancy. He will be loved, cherished, and missed by his children: Jerilyn Nieder (Ken Wood), Chuck (Dana) Nieder, Vicki (Wayne) Linkletter, and Christine (Bob) Short; his grandchildren Nancy Nieder, Maggie (Bryce) Campbell, Trube (Caamon) Brunk, Grace (Reese) Orrick, George Nieder, Millie Short, and Hannah (A.J.) Burns; and his great-grandchildren Callum, Miles, Nicholas, Helena, Ellie, and Nora. A family memorial is being planned for next summer - no details at this time.
