Ray J. Nichols Jr.

DEERING,NH: Dr. Ray J. Nichols, Jr., 88, died on December 5, 2023 at Hospice House, Concord, NH. He was born on October 22, 1935 in Oxford, Mississippi to Dr. Ray J. Nichols, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Harris. Ray’s graduation from the University of Mississippi and the University of Mississippi Medical School, was followed by a residency in Anesthesiology at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL and six months at Boston Children’s Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts. He then served as a Captain in the United States Air Force, from 1961 to1964. He joined the Anesthesiology Faculty at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas. In the early 1980s, he transferred to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, and was a Professor of Anesthesiology. Prior to his retirement, he practiced Anesthesiology at the Shrine Hospital for Burned Children, Galveston Texas.
