Lester W Nickerson, Jr

Hillsboro, NH Lester Wendall Nickerson Jr., 76, of Hillsboro, NH, passed away peacefully on September 10th, 2024. He spent several months battling various medical complications in the wake of a massive stroke on December 8th 2023. Lester was born January 8, 1948 to the late Lester W Nickerson Sr and Mildred (Nason) Nickerson. "Les" and his wife were well loved and supported crossing guards in Henniker and were featured on a New Hampshire Chronicle episode in 2023. He also served in the United States Marine Corps and Marine Corps Reserve for 14 years. He earned multiple purple hearts in the Republic of Vietnam from 1967-1968, participating in seven major campaigns, which included the 1968 Tet Offensive where his unit was surrounded and cut off by land at the Khe-Sanh Firebase and under seige for 77 days. Lester leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Mrs. Susan Nickerson, four children, 15 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren, with number 7 on the way. A celebration of life will be held at the...
