Kathleen “Kay” Daniels passed away February 7, 2025.
Kay Daniels, 86, was quick to say that she was born at the time of The Great New England Hurricane of 1938, one of the most destructive and powerful hurricanes in recorded history. She grew up on her parent’s large farm, with very competitive parents who each had their own separate, enormous vegetable and flower gardens. They competed for the best in every category- every vegetable and every flower- from cucumber to dahlia. It was through them that Kay learned a great work ethic, respect for the beauty of the earth, how to stay humble although a Scrabble champion, how to sew like nobody’s business, to paint, quilt, read music and an enduring love for family. She attended the Deering Community Church her entire life. Each church member, and especially the Summer Faire team, where her “quilt of the year” would be raffled, will hold a place in her heart forever.
