Heather Christine Marino, 86, of Henniker, NH passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026 after battling a long illness. Her children and extended family had precious moments with her during her final days.
Heather was born on March 17, 1939 in Malden, MA. She grew up in Malden with her late stepfather and mother Arnold and Florence Swanson and brother, Richard Hook of Hudson, NH. Heather attended Eastern Nazarene College where she studied music. Heather's primary career was working as a licensed director of the preschool at Malden Church of the Nazarene for many years. She enjoyed working with the children there and had many fond memories. After Heather retired as the director, she relocated to Henniker, NH where she had spent most summers as a child. There, she worked part-time at White Birch Community Center. She became very involved with the activities and community there. Heather enjoyed going to the "Bone Builders" classes and being a part of the "Knit Wits" knitting club. She made many good friends in Henniker.
Heather loved working in her gardens. She created immaculate flower beds both in Malden and Henniker. She took pride in the vegetables she grew and was happy to have the space for some fruit trees. She could keep almost anything blooming for an extended period of time! Heather also enjoyed cooking and baking. She often jotted down a new recipe to try and was always ready with a bundt birthday cake to celebrate the next family birthday.
What Heather loved most was her children and grandchildren. She was so proud of her boys Christopher Alan of Bedford, MA and Gregory Arnold of Weymouth, MA and their wives Kimberly and Laura. There wasn't a phone call or visit that went by where she didn't ask about her grandchildren, Isabelle (26), Hunter (24), Mallory (22), James (20) and Anderson (18). She bragged about them every chance that she could get and was always so excited to see them or hear from them. Heather will be deeply missed and forever loved.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 11AM at Journey Church in Derry, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to Live and Let Live Farm's Rescue and Sanctuary (https://www.liveandletlivefarm.org) to honor Heather's love for animals.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home. www.holtwoodburyfh.com.
