Gregory Lofgren

January 27, 1969 — July 4, 2025

Gregory E. Lofgren, age 56, of Washington, NH passed away unexpectedly on July 4, 2025. Greg was a loving, funny, sarcastic man who was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Greg was born in Quincy, MA, the son of William L. Lofgren, Sr. and Ann Marie Caulfield Lofgren. He grew up in Wakefield, MA where he graduated Wakefield High School in 1987, with many stories to tell about adventures with a great group of friends. Greg was easily liked and continued to build both lifelong friendships after high school, as well as living great adventures across his life, filled with laughter, friends, and family.

Greg met his wife, Donna Labombard Lofgren, in 1992 when she was working at the Washington General Store, owned by his parents. Very early on everyone knew that Donna was the one for Greg. They dated for 2 years before marrying on January 13, 1995, and neither one ever considered looking back after that. Greg was Donna’s rock through good times and tough times, and over the years Donna was Greg’s rock right back. They shared a marriage that was deep and committed and strong, filled with laughter, love, and great jokes, even through the tough times.

Greg worked as a hydraulic mechanic at New England Hydraulics in Bedford, NH for 22 years before some health issues required him to step away. After that he worked as a forklift operator at LaValley Lumber and then more recently at the Lumber Barn in Bradford, NH. Greg was a hard worker, dependable and committed to the companies and people he worked for.

Being a good worker was important to Greg, but his family and friends, both two-legged and four-legged, were where his heart was. Greg loved animals, from the gerbils, birds, dogs, cats, and a turtle named Malcolm of his childhood, to the 6 dogs and 12 cats that Greg and Donna shared together over the years. Greg had great luck when he met Donna to also have her two sons, Chris and Kyle, come into his life as well. He felt he was blessed to be able to help guide Donna’s boys through their growing up years into the incredible, kind, irreverently funny men they are now.

Greg is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Lofgren, as well as by her sons, Christopher Guay of Swanzey, NH and Kyle and Jackie Guay of Hillsboro, NH. One of Greg’s greatest and unexpected joys during his last three years was being Grampy to Kyle and Jackie’s son, Liam. Greg is also survived by his older brother, William Bates-Lofgren and his wife Anisha, of Roslindale, MA, his sister, Karen Lofgren, of Concord, NH, and his other brother, Herb Belmonte, of Portsmouth, NH. Greg also leaves behind his memories in the hearts of many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who were as close to him as family.

A memorial service and visiting time will be held on Saturday, July 26 from 12:00-2:00 at Holt-Woodbury funeral home in Hillsboro, NH. If your life was touched by Greg, please come share a story of Greg, as well as laughter, dark humor, and memories with us.
