Elizabeth Margulies

Elizabeth (Bette) Margulies of Deering, NH and a native of Peterborough, NH passed away at her home on November 4, 2025. She was born on July 6, 1946 to parents Blanche (Dauscher) and Lawrence Davis. She attended local schools and graduated from Peterborough High School in 1964, going on to study nursing.

In 1966, she met Michael Margulies, a local teacher originally from Suffern, New York. She liked to tell the story of their meeting. It was a blind date, and Mike had two girls to choose between: Jane Russell and Bette Davis. He chose Bette Davis, and the rest is history (and her story). He proposed that night and they were married three months later on June 10th 1966.

They settled in Deering and Bette began working at PSNH in the bookkeeping department, where she stayed until her retirement.

Bette enjoyed gardening and spent many happy hours amongst her peonies and beloved yuccas. She was also a prolific jam maker, as anyone lucky enough to be on the receiving end of a jar of raspberry preserves could attest.

She was a tireless volunteer in the community: a Girl Scout troop leader, helping with the Deering Roadside Cleanup and the Deering Plant Sale to name but a few.

Having lost her husband of 53 years in 2020, Bette was also predeceased by her two sisters, Sandra Miles and Lois Bosley. She leaves behind her only child, daughter Maureen Ostertag, grandsons Joshua and Adam, great granddaughter Evelyn, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
