Wayne H Elliott

Antrim, NH: Wayne Henrey Elliott was born in Antrim, NH on February 4th, 1935 to William “Dewey” and Doris L. (Barnett) Elliott. Wayne ended his journey at the age of 89 surrounded by family in his home on March 18th, 2024. Wayne was born in a Farmhouse on North Main Street in Antrim, NH and Grew up on Elm Ave in Antrim, NH with his parents. He met his wife of 63 years in the early 1950’s in Peterborough, NH. The then, Shirley Blanchette was fetching him some water from the creek for his tractors’ radiator when Wayne was doing a job for her father the late Charles Blanchette. They were married on December 1st, 1956, in Peterborough, NH. Wayne and Shirley acquired a piece of land at 177 Elm Ave from his father Dewey Elliott and there, Wayne built his house, one piece at a time with the help from family and friends with re-purposed materials acquired from various places including where he gained some of his knowledge of carpentry from North Branch Builders of 7 years. Wayne was dedicated and worked many long hours to provide for his 3 daughters while his wife Shirley stayed at home and raised them the best she could. Wayne had many jobs over his lifetime and didn’t stay too long at any one of them chasing the almighty dollar. His skills mostly included Heavy Equipment Operating. Which included but was not limited to Graders, Loaders, Bulldozers, Excavators, Skidders, Chippers, and Log Loaders. Some of the Companies he worked for included but not limited to Durgin and Crowell Lumber Co. Town of Antrim Highway Dept. CJ Construction, RP Jones Construction, George Smith, Antrim Fire Department as a Fire Fighter / Forest Fire Deputy Warden, plus many more. Wayne started his Retirement from Henniker Hardwood Pallet Inc. and soon fell ill with Cancer back in the late 90’s. This did not stop him though. He fought his battle with Cancer and won, to live another 31 years. After his Retirement and battle with cancer he would take on part time side work with Pine View Excavation and Land Clearing, working alongside David J. Desaulniers and anyone else that could use a well experienced Equipment Operator. When he was not working, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and taking road trips up north. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Teaching them the ins and outs of Hunting and Fishing and how to fix and work on things. He had much to teach everyone with his years of experience and wisdom. He always had a witty comment or a funny story to tell. If Mother Nature was not cooperating, he would threaten to “Tie her Tits in a Knot”. As a teenager he acquired an Old Cider Press which he used only a few times and it spent most of its years in a building, or as decoration on a porch before one of his grandsons acquired it and with his help restored it to working condition once again, and for the past 3 years had enjoyed and looked forward to the Annual Cider Social Event where the family would gather and squeeze out some fresh Cider. He also looked forward to his weekly Sunday trips, which mostly led to eating lunch. Every Sunday would be a new adventure, or just a chance to get out of the house for some fresh air and scenery. Wayne was predeceased by his wife of 63 years Shirley L. (Blanchette) Elliott in September 6th, 2020. Wayne is Survived by his 2 Brothers Charles B. Elliott of Antrim, NH and Carroll D. Elliott of Cypress, TX, his 2 Sisters Doris “Ann” Edwards of Antrim, NH and Joyce C. Dunlap of Honea Path, SC. He leaves behind his three daughters Pamela A. Spalding and husband Kevin Spalding of Washington, NH, Kathleen A. Mackey of Antrim, NH, and Vicky L. Boyer and husband Rene Boyer of Windsor, NH. Six grandchildren Mark W. Giglio and wife Aleisha Giglio of Newport, NH, Charlie Spalding of Hillsboro, NH, Mathew J. Mackey and wife Lee-Anne Mackey of Hillsboro, NH, Timothy Giglio and Wife Tammy Giglio of Washington, NH, David W. Mackey and fiancé Michelle Wilson of Henniker, NH, Sarah Wilder and husband Ben Wilder of Stoddard, NH, Andrew Chandler and wife Mariah Chandler of Windsor, NH, 14 Great-grandchildren and 3 Great-Great-grandchildren. At Wayne’s Request there will be no Services. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the discretion of the family. The Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home & Cremation service Hillsboro, NH is assisting the family. Donations can be sent to Antrim Fire and Rescue.
