Robert G Hatfield

Weare, NH Robert G. Hatfield, 87, of Walker Hill Road died on Monday, June 10, 2024, at the Granite VNA Hospice House in Concord. Robert was born on October 29, 1936, in Plainfield, NJ, the son of Douglas and Elizabeth “Betty” (Graham) Hatfield. Robert’s parents moved to Peterborough in 1945. He spent his childhood there and attended Peterborough Schools. Robert served in the US Army from 1958-1960. After the military he went on to travel the world before returning to NH to obtain his bachelor’s degree from New England College in Henniker. Robert worked as a tax administrator for the New Hampshire Department of Revenue, from 1969 until his retirement in 2000. He served as town auditor for the town of Weare from 1973-1993. He also owned and operated the Maplehurst Inn in Antrim alongside his wife, Peggy. He was also part owner of Diamond Acres and Johnson’s Dairy Bar and kept busy managing multiple rental properties. Robert enjoyed antique cars, collecting stamps and coins, and firing off his cannon at the John Stark Regional HS graduation ceremonies. Robert was a 54 year Master Mason member of Harmony Lodge #38 and also a member of York Right Bodies, Scottish Right Bodies (33rd Degree), Grand Master of NH and Bektash Shrine. Robert is survived by his wife, Margaret “Peggy” Hatfield of 52 years; his children, John Hatfield and his wife, Connie and Brenda Hatfield Martin and her husband, Darin; his grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jackson; his brother, Douglas Hatfield and his wife, Judith; his sister, Susan Hatfield Collier and her husband, David; as well as many nieces and nephews. Calling Hours will be held on 6/22/24 from 2:00-4:00 pm at the Holt- Woodbury Funeral Home, 32 School Street, Hillsborough, NH 03244. A Memorial Service will be held on 6/24/24 at 3:00 pm at the Smith Memorial Church, 30 West Main Street, Hillsborough, NH 03244.
