Robert v Bethel, Sr

Hopkinton, NH Robert “Bob” V. Bethel Sr 77, passed away on Monday July 8, 2024 after a long illness. Bob was born September 1946 in Rockville Center NY To Vera (Wicks) Bethel and William Vincent Bethel. Bob was a 1965 Graduate of Farmingdale High School in Farmingdale NY. Following Graduation Bob became a US Navy Sea Bee (MCB58) where he served two tours in Vietnam. Bob was so proud to be a US Navy Sea Bee and loved to show that pride and talk with people anywhere he went about being a Sea Bee. Bob married the love of his Life Mary McGowan in 1967, they were married 57 years. Bob and Mary had 4 wonderful children, Mary, Kathryn, Robert Jr and Scott. Bob and Mary moved the family to NH a state that he loved where he owned and operated North Branch Refrigeration and was the Assistant Chief of the North Branch Fire Station. Bob loved the outdoors wild life and anything to do with nature, he passed his love of fishing down through the generations. Throughout his life he took many fishing trips to the woods in Canada with friends and family to fish for northern pike. In his later years Bob took up the hobby of photography attending classes with other veterans. Bob cherished family and friends above all. His 4 grandchildren Jeffrey, Matthew Briar and Anna who were is biggest joys. He loved the daily updates about sports scores, how school was, how big the fish was they caught, or what new tool they might have purchased. The Grandchildren were truly his best friends. Bob was a loving man with a huge heart who will be missed by everyone who knew him. Bob was pre-deceased by his Daughter Mary Bethel, parents Vera (Wicks) Bethel, and William V Bethel, and is Mother in Law Kathryn (Morgan) McGowan. He is survived by his loving wife Mary, Daughter Kathryn (Bethel) Hollins, and her husband Dean, children Jeffrey and Matthew, his son Robert Bethel Jr, and his wife Courtney (Geisel) Bethel and their children Briar and Anna his son Scott Bethel and his wife Sarah (Breda) Bethel. Bob had his dog Abby and 2 grand puppies Roxy and Gracie, countless nieces, nephews, and extended family who he loved whole heartly. Calling hours will be held Wednesday July 10, 2024 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home & cremation Service 32 School St Hillsboro, NH 03244. A mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday July 11, 2024 at 10 am in St Theresa Church in Henniker, NH. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery In Antrim, NH.
