Raymond Stanley Daniels

Deering, NH At almost 92, Raymond Daniels passed away on February 11, 2025.--just 4 days after his wife, Kathleen. Ray and Kay had married on Valentine’s Day 1959, so they made it one week shy of 66 years. They were blessed with 3 children, David, Rob and Kathy. Ray was a hard worker all his life. He learned how to drive a truck early on. Ray served in the US Army Occupation Forces in Germany, 1952-1953. He couldn’t wait to return to his favorite place, Hillsborough NH, where he would serve as Town Road Agent. He then started Daniels Construction Company, and in the Winter he plowed snow for numerous businesses and individuals. The other 3 seasons during his 70 years in heavy construction, he did everything from foundation excavation, to adding stream fed ponds, and delivering crushed stone and gravel for people in the surrounding communities. He loved meeting new clients and hearing their ideas for their property and then telling them the “right way to do it.” One of his many favorite projects was an upside down tree next to a pond for folk singer, Tom Rush. Another was moving half of my grandparent’s huge farmhouse for David Bowles, an architect, and his family. –Typically, his clients then became lifelong friends who he loved to talk with over the phone. He always smiled and waved to everyone from way up high in his trucks. Ray proudly served on the Volunteer Fire Dept. for many years, becoming a lieutenant. He was a member of the original Rescue Squad, as well working on the Planning Board and Water Commission to tell them “the right way” of doing all things. For this reason, a joint Celebration of Their Lives will take place at Deering Community Church, 763 Deering Center Rd, Rte. 149, Deering, NH on Sunday, February 23 at 1pm, you are welcome.
