Micahael J. Tatro I

BENNINGTON, NH: Michael Jon Tatro, I, of Bennington, NH, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024, at 57 years old. Mike was born May 6, 1966 to Doris Shouse and Gordon (Buzz) Tatro. He grew up in Bennington, and graduated from ConVal High School in 1984. Over the years he had spent time as a truck driver, in his 18-wheeler, known as “Looney Tunes”. He worked at the Paper Mill, and was currently a road agent for the town of Wilton, NH. No matter his profession, he was always known for his hardworking nature and dedication to his job. Outside of work, Mike was know for so many things and by so many people. Mike leaves behind such an unfathomable trail of friends, from those he grew up with, those he knew through work, his band of “Dinquents”, and, of course, those who frequented the American Legion in Hillsborough, NH, where Mike was the Sons of the Legion's Chaplain. The list could go on endlessly, but it would be an understatement to say that he will be dearly missed by the community. Mike had a huge personality. He was charming, dependable, good-humored, and loving. He would go above and beyond to make sure that people felt welcome wherever he was. He was good at letting those he cared about know just how much they meant to him, both with his words and actions. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and anything else to do with the outdoors, especially with good company. You could often find him around the campfire with his close friends and family. Mike was, at his core, a family man; he spoke often of his children, and bragged uncontrollably about his grandchildren. He loved to show off photos and share memories of them, with anyone who would listen. He loved to share his collection of “punny” jokes, and in the right crowd he would share his more risquè collection, as well. Behind his sometimes gruff demeanor, there was a man with unwavering loyalty and gentleness, who would tear up if you told him something too sweet or gave him a heartfelt gift (although he’d never admit it). Mike is survived by his mother, Doris Shouse, and his father, Gordon (Buzz) Tatro, as well as his brother, Eugene, and his sister, Jo. He leaves behind his three boys, Michael II, Dustin, and Christopher Tatro, two step-children, Alyssa Warren and Anthony Hill, and nine grandchildren, Quinn, Noah, Desmond, Leon, Dante, Natalia, Dexter, Bailey, and Aurora. He was predeceased by his step-daughter, Ariel Hill. His Celebration of Life will be held at the American Legion in Hillsborough, NH on February 3, 2024 from 1 pm to 5 pm. The Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Hillsboro, NH is assisting the family.
