Allan H Williams

Allan H. Williams, 70, of Hillsborough, NH, succumbed to cancer on January 2, 2025, at Concord Hospital’s Hospice House, surrounded by family. Allan will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and for helping family, friends, and neighbors, whenever the need arose. Born on January 31, 1954, Allan was the third of four children of Gilbert L. Williams and Ruth A. Williams (both deceased). He attended Hillsboro-Deering schools and graduated in 1972. After traveling around the Northwest and the western Canadian provinces, Allan returned home and helped his father, “Bill,” at Williams’ Store, which Allan subsequently took over upon his father’s death in 2004. Bill always had a large customer base, but Allan also gained a wide following of customers who stopped daily to shoot the breeze and grab essentials. Many people would also drive by his store to see what flag he chose to fly that day. Well-read, Allan was captivated by history and could talk at great length about a wide range of subjects. He also loved music and played the guitar until arthritis made it too difficult for him to to strum the instrument. Allan also liked opera and musicals, and he enjoyed seeing plays at the Peterborough Players each summer. He was also known to be a friend to all animals. He is survived by his brother, Thomas E. Williams, Hillsborough, NH, and sisters, Jean E. Williams, Tewksbury, MA, and Ann M. Williams, Francestown, NH; his nieces, Christina L. Greemore (Laurence) of Hillsborough, NH, and Amanda W. Blevens (Christopher) of Hillsborough, NH, and his nephew, Adam G. Billitzer, Stevenson Ranch, CA; and great-niece and great-nephews. Calling hours will be from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home, 32 School St., Hillsborough, NH, 03244. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm in the funeral home. All are welcome. Burial will take place in the spring at the Maple Avenue Cemetery, Hillsborough, NH.
