Doris M Cayer

Contoocook, NH Well-loved and respected Doris Cayer, 82, of Contoocook, NH, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2024, after a tenacious battle with cancer. She was born Doris Shatney in the town of Weare to Elizabeth Davis and Arnold Shatney, where she thrived with her six siblings on a farm, instilling a sense of self-sufficiency. She resided with her husband Neil in the great town of Contoocook, where she raised nine children and was known for her strong will, generosity, and watchful eye for the protection and care of all children. Doris was one of the toughest, with an incredible amount of grit and integrity. Always helping others, she was a master problem solver with remarkable insight. A pillar of the community, she will be deeply missed by all. She is preceded by her husband Neil T. Cayer and stepsons Dana and Brett.
