John H. Wunderlich

SUTTON, NH:  John H. Wunderlich, 62, passed away at his home on December 12th, 2018. In the last years of his life, John was burdened with kidney disease that became progressively worse.

John was born in Boston, Massachusetts on August 2nd, 1956, the second of three children. He attended Tufts Elementary School in Medford, Massachusetts, through 5thgrade. He also went to school in Stoney Brook, NY, and the last year that Simonds H.S. In Warner, N.H. was open as a High School/Junior High. He graduated from Keararge Regional High School in 1974.

In his youth, John liked trout fishing, skiing, baseball, gardening, and rock music among his many varied interests. In high school he wrote a prescient short story about the end of skiing in New England due to global warming called “The Last Ski Bum.”  John was a life-long fan of the Red Sox, Celtics, and Patriots, and  often expressed the dream that he would have liked to be a professional athlete or coach.

During his working life, John received an Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the New Hampshire Technical Institute in Concord, class of 1985. He worked at many manufacturing facilities in New Hampshire; most recently, at the Mellon Company in Concord for many years.  His dry humor will surely be missed by his co-workers.

John loved living in his home in Sutton where he maintained a wonderful vegetable garden until recently. He was predeceased by his sister, Gretchen, his father Herman, and his mother Margaret.  He is survived by his brother William and sister-in-law Rhonda of Sutton.

A graveside service will be held May 10that 10AM at the New Waterloo Cemetery, off Route 103, in Warner, N.H.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sutton Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 158, North Sutton NH 03260.
