James Basil Papp

 

Henniker, NH

James B. (Jim) Papp, 65, of Craney Rd., in Henniker, died suddenly at his home on January 27, 2012.

Jim was born in Manchester, the son of Basil and Helen (Mitsiocapas) Papp. He grew up in Derry and was a graduate from Pinkerton Academy and New England College in Henniker. James nickname while he was in college was “Jim” or “Pappy” – which stayed with him while he performed in a number of plays and musicals in town.

James worked as a commercial artist in Boston, MA before retiring to Henniker where he worked as a freelance artist. Jim was instrumental with the drawings for the revitalization of the downtown block during the early 1980’s. Most of Jim’s works were drawn to scale in pen and ink. Daniel’s Restaurant and other modifications to the buildings on Main Street are a testament to Jim’s skill and talent. Jim was an extremely intelligent man and possessed a great sense of humor. He enjoyed living a simple life in his cabin at Pats Peak.

Jim was predeceased his parents. He leaves behind his brother, Lee Papp and wife Beverly of Manchester; his sisters, Diana Papp Nye of West Sumner, ME; and Roxanne Papp of Farmington; two nieces, Adrienne Nye and Alexandra Nye Bourke; two nephews, Christopher and Nicholas Papp and special friend, Nancy Foley.

A Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery on Brown Ave., in Manchester.
