Charles E Zabriskie Sr., 81, of Bennington, NH died February 19, 2011 at the Hillsboro House Nursing Home.

Born August 24, 1929 in Peterborough, NH, the son of Albert & Mildred S (Holt) Zabriskie.

He was predeceased by a son Louis C Zabriskie and wife Suzanne June Murray in 1993.

He worked for over 40 years as a Stock Manager for the Monadnock Paper Mill in Bennington, NH before his retirement, and then worked for Edmund’s Hardware Store in Antrim, NH.

Charles was a Fire Chief in Bennington, NH for many years, and was instrumental in the Building of the present Bennington Fire Station.

He was a member of Presbyterian Church in Antrim, NH, Antrim American Legion Post # 50. And was a U.S. Navy Veteran.

Survived by 2 Sons, Charles E & Rebecca Zabriskie Jr, and Michael A & Dorothy Zabriskie, both of Bennington, NH, 2 Daughters, Linda S & Andrew Johnson, and Sandra L Pagnotto, both of Hillsboro, NH, 1 Brother, Ralph Zabriskie, of Kissimmee, Fla, 1 Sister, Thelma Paradise, of Peterborough, NH. 17 Grandchildren, 25 Great Grandchildren, and several Nieces, & Nephews.

Services will be held Friday February 25, 2011 at 6 pm in the Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home & Cremation Service 32 School St Hillsboro, NH.

Burial will be in spring in Evergreen Cemetery, Bennington, NH.

Donations may be made in his name to the Bennington Fire & Rescue Dept 7 School St # 101 Bennington, NH 03442.
