Michael J Takala

1938-2011

 

Concord, NH

Michael J. Takala, 72, of Concord, NH passed away at Saturday September 10, 2011 with his loving wife of 23 years Josephine (Hatch) Takala by his side.

He was born November 18, 1938 in Laramie, Wyoming, To Mikael and Lempi (Ollikkala) Takala, of Elk Mountain, Wyoming. He was also predeceased by his first wife Marilyn Perry Weston, his favorite Aunt Mamie Olgren, Cousins, Janet (Bruce) Cavanaugh and Robert Bruce, Many aunts and uncles & cousins.

He graduated from Hanna High in Hanna, Wyoming, and welding trade school Pocatello, Idaho. He was a heavy equipment operator for Rosebud Coal Mines, Hanna, Wyoming.  He was an avid golfer, skier and had a strong interest in astronomy: he was a hunting guide for many years in Wyoming. He and his wife traveled and visited many states, and Michael was a member of Elk Mountain Odd Fellows Lodge for over 50 years in Wyoming.

He loved Wyoming and owned Ollikkala Ranch, Elk Mountain, Wyoming for many years. Mike’s favorite place in New Hampshire was at Great Island Commons, New Castle, NH. Mike will be remembered as a gentle man with a soft smile and a love for animals.   

Survived by his wife of 23 years Josephine (Hatch) Takala, of Concord, NH, 1 cousin Aila Eluluoma, of Tainus, Finland, and cousins from Wyoming and Washington, 2 sister’s-in-law Mary Harris, of Belmont, NH and Bertha (Hatch) Benson, of Centerville, Mass.

There will be no calling hours.

Services & Luncheon will be held Saturday September 17, 2011 at 12 Noon in  St. John’s Parish Hall 72 South Main St Concord, NH.

 Burial will be at a later date in Wyoming.
