Dana L. Sweatt, 90, passed peacefully December 5, 2011 at his beloved farm in Hopkinton, NH after a period of declining health.

Mr. Sweatt was born Feb. 20, 1921 in Hopkinton to Jesse J. and Mabel (Lord) Sweatt. 

A graduate of Hopkinton High School class of 1940, Mr. Sweatt served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II as a supplies transporter in the Pacific Theatre.  After the war, he returned to the family farm, married and raised a family.

He later worked for Gould Hill Farm as an orchardist and then for the State in the maintenance and paint shop at NH Hospital until his retirement. He continued to keep busy around the farm and helping friends and neighbours with chores for many years in his retirement. He enjoyed his membership in the local Golden Group and loved visiting with his grandchildren.  He always had a joke or a story to tell.

Mr. Sweatt leaves his wife of 63 years, Alice "Tillie" (Cote), a daughter Virginia and Stan Pastuszczak of Hopkinton, a son Timothy and Bonnie Sweatt of Hopkinton, grandchildren John Drake of Sacramento CA, Linda Marshall of  Sailsbury, NH, Lisa Cantara of Alexandria, NH Dan Pastuszczak of Concord, NH Tom Pastuszczak of Hopkinton, NH  Julie Sweatt of Lyman, SC and Jeff Sweatt of Macon, GA, three great grandchildren, a sister Harriet Heartz of Deland FL, and many nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by three brothers and two sisters.

There will be no calling hours.

Graveside services will be held Friday December 9, 2011 at 11 am at Contoocook Village Cemetery.
