1919-2011

Hillsboro, NH

Eloise Jackson Sutton, 91 passed away peacefully at home February 24th with her loving family and friends by her side.

Eloise was born in Prairie Hill, Texas, May 18, 1919 to Dr. Reuben  and Maude (Caston) Jackson.  She grew up in Dallas graduating from Highland Park High School and then attending Texas Tech in Lubbock as an English Major. She married Willard E. Sutton from Bardwell, TX and they made their home in Irving, TX.  She and her husband ran a drive in grocery store, then a dry cleaners together before his premature death in 1962.  She continued to run the business for years before going to work at Lamar Junior High School as the attendance clerk.  She was the favorite “office lady”.  Upon her retirement in 1987 she was awarded a plaque for “perfect attendance” for 11 straight years!

Being retired she traveled to Hillsboro, NH to visit her daughter Susan’s family every July and Christmas.  While visiting, Nanny became well-known to her grandkid’s friends as she entertained with many humorous one-liners, always delivered in her distinct Texas accent.  She had a quick wit, loved making people laugh and no one loved Boston Terriers any more than she did.  At age 87 due to failing health she left her beloved state of Texas and moved to NH to be cared for by her daughter and her family.

In Hillsboro she is survived by her daughter Susan (Sutton) Ireland and her husband, Doug, grandson, Connor, granddaughter, Carly, grandson, Casey, great grandson, Zane and the many friends she made including Benny, Corey, Shaun, Myles, Taylor, Jay, Chrissie, Brendan, Charlotte, Christine, Dianne, Diana, Sue B., Sue D. and especially, Seth Hallett.

In Texas she is survived by her son, Charles Jackson (Jack) Sutton of Flower Mound, granddaughters Kristin and McKenna and best friends Sona, Dolly, Zenda, Zoe and especially Marijane Tropoloc; In St. Louis, granddaughters Kellie, Jaclyn, great grandsons Austin and Gavin and great granddaughter, Lyla Grace. She was predeceased by her brother Capt. Reuben (Bud) Jackson.
