Mathias "Matt" J St Laurent

Mathias “Matt” J. St. Laurent, 86, of Henniker, NH died Monday February 28, 2011 at the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Concord, NH.

Born in Lowell Mass, the son of the late Pierre & Yvonne (Dumais) St. Laurent, also predeceased by his wife Marion L (Carter) St. Laurent who died in 2008.

Matt worked at AT&T in Montgomery Illinois as a molder for thirty-seven years before retiring here to his home state of NH. After retirement Matt worked part time at the Market Basket in Warner NH where he would put a smile on many customers’ faces with his sense of humor. Matt enjoyed working and had worked hard all his life.

Matt also spent a lot of his time attending many softball, basketball and football games at John Stark High School where many of his grandchildren were involved in the sports. You could also see Matt many times at the fairs on the side lines watching  his grandchildren as they showed in various livestock shows.

Matt enjoyed travel also. He was able to see a lot of the country he had fought so hard to keep free in the Navy during World War II. There was even a special trip to Hawaii to see Pearl Harbor. He was also a Member of VFW, & American Legion Post #59 Hillsboro, NH.

Matt or as many of his family and friends called him “Cyno” was a quiet man but had a great devotion and love for his late wife Marion”Loiuse” and his family. He will be greatly missed in our lives.

Survived by 5 Sons, Robert J & Nancy St. Laurent, Larry A St. Laurent, David E Grant, and Maurice G & Nancy Davison, all of Henniker, NH, Ronald J & Jeannie St. Laurent, of Oswego, Ill, 1 Daughter, Patricia L & Dennis Runge, of Henniker, NH, A sister in law Cynthia & Walter Bumford Jr, of Henniker, NH, 13 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren, several Nieces & Nephews.

Calling hours will be held Friday March 4, 2011 from 6-8 pm in the Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Henniker, NH.

A mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday March 5, 2011 at 10 am in St. Mary’s Church in Hillsboro, NH.

Burial will be in spring in Henniker New Cemetery Henniker, NH.
