Henniker, NH Richard Whitney Rideout, 58, of Henniker NH passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loved ones, on Oct 5 after a brave and brief struggle with cancer. He is predeceased by his father Frederick Whitney Rideout, mother Stella Walker Gordon Rideout, and cousin Neale Gordon Sandbach. Rick was born on October 24, 1952 in Wilmington, DE and grew up in Hopkinton, NH. He studied landscaping and horticulture at the Thompson School of Applied Science at the University of New Hampshire. He was president and owner of Three Season Landscaping, Inc., established in 1978. In his 33 years of business his talent for designing indoor and outdoor living spaces inspired many. He is recognized for restoring the historic train depot in Henniker, NH. Rick’s adventurous spirit took him all over the world, traveling to many exotic locations. He was an avid mountain biker, was at peace on his Harley, and enjoyed golfing, skiing, hockey, and scuba diving. He loved spending time with his two West Highland Terriers Whitney and Castle. He will be remembered as a wise father and friend, a caring son, and a loving partner. Rick was a member of the Concord HOG chapter, the Henniker, Lake Sunapee, and Greater Concord Chambers of Commerce, the NHLA, the NH Arborists Association, and the Episcopalian Church. He is survived by fiancee Lisa Gourley of Henniker NH, daughter Rebecca Rideout and her husband W. Ryan Nestor of Greenfield MA, sister Rosemary Meding of Punta Gorda FL, nephew Christopher Knight and his children Morgan and Haley of Phoenix AZ, and cousins George Sheldon of Bethesda MD, Virginia Sheldon of West Acton MA, and Diane Peake of Denver CO. There will be an article featuring Rick in the November issue of New Hampshire Magazine, written by his daughter Rebecca. Calling hours will be held from 2:00-6:00 pm on Sunday October 9 at Holt Woodbury Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Henniker, NH Service will be held at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Hopkinton, NH on Wednesday October 12 at 11:00 a.m. with reception to follow.
