Edith (Buxton) Hadley
1921-2011

Henniker, NH Edith (Buxton) Hadley died Tuesday, June 28, 2011, surrounded by her children. She was 90. Born in Henniker in 1921, Edith graduated from the Henniker schools and Keene Teachers College. She taught first grade for over 35 years in Henniker and Concord, and established her family at her Dodge Hill home. Edith’s generosity and constant positive presence touched the lives of many, but none more than her family. In addition to nurturing children, Edith also took care of elderly family members at the farm including her mother and beloved husband of 50 years, Arthur (predeceased). She was the oldest of six children of Annie D & Leonard P Buxton. She shared her life closely with her siblings: Natalie Coleman, Jerry French, Francis Buxton and Philip Buxton, (all predeceased) and her sister June Wentworth who lives in Contoocook, NH. Edith is survived by her children: Lori Knapton of Webster, NH, Arthur "Bill" Hadley of Henniker, NH and Kenneth Hadley of Henniker, NH; seven grandchildren, Lisa Knapton, Piermont, NH, Shelley Roy, Newbury, NH, Kristina Bastian, Cedar Creek, TX, Teresa LaJoie, Kirkland, WA, Kelly Hadley, Henniker, NH, Emily Peterson, Fairbanks, AK and Dan Hadley, Washington DC; ten great grandchildren , Edith’s pride and joy, Alyvia, Matthew, Etta, Carter, Megan, Joia, Jacob, Chase, Steely and Lily. Graveside services will be held at the New Cemetery in Henniker at 11: AM on Saturday, July 2, 2011. The Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home & Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
