Samuel Joseph Galpin, aged 36, of Brighton, MA formerly of Hillsboro, NH, died suddenly at his home of a heart condition on Sunday, November 13, 2011. Sam was born at Concord Hospital on February 11, 1975 to Phebe and Russell Galpin of Hillsboro, NH. He is survived by his parents, two brothers, Russell (Debby) of Beloit, WI and J. Peter (Glorie) of Canaan, NH and one sister, Barbara (Larry) Gaskell of Washington, NH. He was predeceased by his brother Steven in 2008. He is also survived by seven nieces, three nephews and many cousins and friends. Sam graduated from Hillsboro-Deering High School and had attended Northeastern University where he was a member of NUHOC. He was employed by DCI in Sommerville, MA as a surveyor. While growing up, Sam had been a boy scout and active in sports. In college he became an avid rock climber and hiker and had climbed mountains all over the United States. He was a member of the Darlington Dart League and Minute Man Dart League. Services will be held on Saturday, November 19 at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Church Street, Hillsboro, followed by fellowship and refreshments at the Hillsboro Masonic Hall on Gay Avenue in Hillsboro. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made in Sam’s memory to the American Heart Association. The Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home & Cremation Service is assisting the family.
