Clifford R Bumford Sr.

1935-2011

Clifford (Bob)  Bumford Sr. of Hillsboro N.H.  passed away peacefully at  home,  after a lengthy illness on October 25th 2011  surrounded by his family,  survived by his wife Joyce and his children,  Ellen,  Beth, Bob,  Dave,  Terri,  and his  dog  Millie  . Also loved by daughters in law, sons in laws, 12 grand children,  brother Junior Bumford,  sister Melody Dumais.  His very large family also inlcudes brother in laws, sisters in laws, many nieces and Nephews – He was a loyal and dedicated husband and father. He was loved by all.

Born in Hillsboro upper village at home in 1935.  As a child worked at  Dimp Cranes Farm on Stowe mountain. At the age of 11 years he was the care taker/ janitor at the one room school house in Hillsboro upper village. Later worked for the upper village phone company, Lorden lumber, house painter, Monadnock paper mills, Layne New England for 15 years, NH ball bearing and ended his working career at Osram Sylvania. He ended his working career retiring from Osram Sylvania after 12 years. He served as a volunteer fire fighter for the Hillsboro Deering fire department.

Bob was an avid hunter, fisherman, enjoyed Nascar, baseball, wrestling and boxing. He was passionate about wood working, playing cards, throwing horse shoes, walking and riding on the old back roads, and listening to old time country music. He was an avid woodsmen who enjoyed all aspects of nature. He found pleasure in just walking the woods, teaching his kids how to read the signs of the forest, and all it’s contents.

As the family story teller we will miss his quick wit, bantering, wisdom and even his sharp tongue. A true man’s man who will always be admired , respected and loved.

We will be having a celebration of his life party in early summer of 2012, time and place to be announced.
