HOPKINTON, NH

 Ethel N. (Sanborn) Martin, 90, a longtime resident of Hopkinton,  died Thursday, November 4, 2010, at the Hospice House following a battle with cancer.

 She was born in Lakeport, NH on August 17, 1920, daughter of the late Lester and Constance (Terrill) Blackey.  She was a devoted wife and loving mother who loved the ocean and taking long walks on the beach.   She was an avid gardener and found joy and happiness in watching birds at her home and the near misses of the delightful humming birds. 

She had done housework for many area families and had worked several years for Sprague Electric in Concord.  She loved music and played guitar and sang in her father’s band.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband of 40 years Robert Sanborn, and second husband of 16 years Joseph Martin.

She is survived by her two daughters, Roberta and husband George Langwasser of Contoocook, Susie and husband Roger Reid of Hopkinton, a sister Patricia and husband Eugene Edwards of Hillsboro, 5 Grandchildren, 8 Great-Grandchildren, 4 Great-Great Grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at 11:00 a.m.  in the New Cemetery in Hopkinton.
