Larry Wayne Grendell, 58, died Sunday August 8, 2010 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. Larry was born January 16, 1952, in Keene, NH and grew up in Hillsboro, graduating from Hillsboro-Deering High School in 1970. He served in the U.S. Army and attended Manhatten Vocational College in Manhattan, Kan., after his time with the service, receiving a welding certificate. Larry was a commercial truck driver for many years. He was also involved with the family Christmas tree business at Norton’s Barn in Henniker. Larry enjoyed trivia, telling jokes, oldies music, concerts, attending NASCAR and drag racing events, watching football games, especially the New England Patriots, roller coasters and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He also enjoyed skiing with his family, trips to York Beach, Maine, and spending time with his grandson, Keegan. He was predeceased by his parents, Lynwood Grendell and Gladys (Green) Thomas and Stepfather, Robert Thomas Sr. He is survived by his wife, Candace Norton Grendell, a daughter, Lacey Grendell, a Son, Tyler Grendell, and a grandson, Keegan Grandell, all of Henniker, NH, a son , Lt. Travis Potter and his wife, Jina, and grandchildren, Ethan, Blake and Addison of Andover, Kan. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Joanne Grendell, of Hillsboro, NH a sister, Marlene Grendell of Cleveland, Ga.: a brother and sister-in-law Don and Cheryl Tardiff, of Navasota, Texas: a brother and sister-in-law Dick and Elaine Tarfiff, of Tucson, Ariz: a sister, Joyce April of Providence, R.I. a stepbrother and sister-in-law, Bob and Linda Thomas, of Hillsboro, NH, a brother-in-law, Joe Norton, of Henniker, NH, a mother-in-law, Alice Norton, Of Henniker, NH, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends and family are invited to stop by the Norton cottage on Lake Massassecum at 16 Massassecum Lake Road in Bradford, NH anytime Saturday between 11 am and 4 pm to celebrate Larry’s life. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to a charity of one’s choice. The Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home & Cremation Service Henniker, NH is in charge of arrangements.
