Robert L Black

1931-2010

 

Robert L. Black 78, died peacefully at home with his family at his side Sunday August 1, 2010.  Bob was born August 24, 1931 in Peterborough, NH.   Son of Lawrence K. Black and Jessie (Butterfield) Black, Bob lived in Antrim and attended Antrim schools before moving to Hillsboro.  He served in the US Army from 1953 until 1955 as a military policeman.  He married Constance Cody April 17, 1965.

Bob was an avid golfer, bowler, and hunter and loved to play cards-bridge being his favorite.  Bob had many pets; his fondness for black Labradors will always be remembered.  Through the years he worked for Monadnock Paper Mills, sold real estate and worked at the Antrim Post Office, retiring in 1994.  During his retirement Bob enjoyed golfing, reading, spending time on the computer and many cups of coffee and cheeseburgers at the corner store in Hillsboro.

In addition to his wife Connie, Bob is survived by his daughter Karen L. Johnson and her husband Doug of Hillsboro; stepdaughter Lori Guyette of Keene, stepson Donald E. Knapton, Jr. and his wife Gretchen of Bow, 10 grandchildren and one great grandson.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.  Bob was predeceased by his brother Harvey K. Black and sister Lois Marie Harriman, both of Antrim.

Graveside services will be held at St. Charles Cemetery on Thursday, August 5th at 3pm.

Reception to be held immediately following at the Masonic Temple in Hillsboro; all are welcome.

 In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to be made to the Hillsboro Rescue Squad C/O Ray Barker PO Box 7, Hillsboro, NH 03244.
