Venice, FL:

 Eloise O. Atherton, 86, died Sept 17 at the home of Sarah Ubel in Weare, NH.

Born June 22, 1924, in Brooklyn, NY she was the daughter of William and Carrie Oram.

After graduating from Bucknell University she married naval officer Curtis Atherton and lived in Fishkill. Their former home on Broad St. is now the village library.

She studied education at New York University-New Paltz, and then taught grade school classes for 25 years in the Wappingers Central School District. With several colleagues she initiated and conducted the outdoor education program at The Fresh Air Fund Sharpe Reservation.

Family members include her sons William Atherton of Madras, OR; James of Brookings, OR; and Robert of Fishkill, NY; and three grandsons.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct 9, at 2 p.m. in the Fishkill United Methodist Church, 38 Broad Street, Fishkill, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Fresh Air Fund, Sharpe Reservation, 633 3^rd Ave., 14^th Floor, NY, NY 10017
