Donald G Parker Sr, 80 of Bennington, NH died Saturday May 15, 2010 at the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough, NH.

Born May 6, 1930 in Unity, NH the son of the late Ralph L and Mildred H (Stockwell) Parker. Mr. Parker has lived in Bennington, NH since 1973. Donald and his wife Barbara were married in 1965, in Newport, NH.

Donald worked for the State of NH, DOT bridge maintenance work for 13 years. Also worked for the town of Bennington, NH transfer station for many years. Then owned and operated a foundation business for several years, and as a carpenter. He also did finished carpentry. And was a volunteer fireman of Bennington, NH, for 10 years.  

Donald was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a former Boy Scout Leader. Also enjoyed riding with his dog and looking for wild life. Donald was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and great grandfather. 

He was survived by his wife of 44 years, Barbara J (Glover) Parker, of Bennington, NH, 2 Sons, Donald G Parker Jr., and his wife Debbie of Stroudsburg, Pa, David G and his wife Corrine Parker, of Bennington NH, 3 Daughters, Susan Lawrence and her husband Duane, of South Strafford, VT, Shirley and her husband Wayne Crowell, of Keene, NH, Nancy and her husband Alex “Buddy” Matson, of Roxbury, NH, 11 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren, 1 Brother Kenneth and his wife Mickey Parker, of Deering, NH, and also 3 Nieces.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday May 19, 2010 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm in the Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home & Cremation Service 32 School St. Hillsboro, NH.

Funeral services will be held Thursday May 20, 2010 at 2.30 pm in the Bennington Congregational Church, the Rev Robert Ritchie pastor will officiate.

Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Bennington, NH.
