|
Janet Talbot Whipple Morrison, 78, of Henniker, NH, passed away peacefully at Concord Hospital Saturday evening May 30th , 2009. Janet was born June 16, 1930 in Grasmere, NH, the youngest daughter of Earle and Violet Whipple. She grew up on Sugar Bush Farm in Goffstown, NH and graduated from Goffstown High School. She continued her education at Mary Fletcher in Burlington, VT where she received her degree in nursing and was subsequently licensed as a Registered Nurse in New Hampshire. She married Deane H. Morrison Jr. from Manchester, NH on March 3rd, 1951. She was a wonderful caring person who was dedicated to her family. She raised her three children, all of whom graduated from Henniker High School. She cared for her grandmother in-law at home for many years and when her husband became terminally ill she cared for him at home until he passed away. She spent her working life at the New England College Health Center taking care of New England College students. It was not at all unusual for those students to become her life long friends. After retirement, she continued to attend to people in need by going to their homes to take care of their blood pressure or assist with their medication or to just listen and offer a supportive ear. She was very active with the Henniker Congregational Church and helped co-found the Henniker Food Pantry. She spent many hours involved in Church activities and volunteering at her beloved Food Pantry. Janet remained true to her farm girl roots throughout her life. She was down to earth, pragmatic, adventurous, and had a great sense of humor. She took every life challenge in stride always looking for the positive not the negative. She was devoted to God and had made it clear to her family and her pastor she was not afraid of death. Her family and her everyone who knew her will miss her deeply. Family members include her sister Gayle (Whipple) Shost of Goffstown, her son Deane H. Morrison III of Concord NH, her son David Earle Morrison of Concord NH, and her daughter Gayle Morrison Burpee of Henniker, NH. She had eight grandchildren and two great-grand children with a third on the way. Services will be held at 2 PM, Friday June 5, 2009 at the Congregational Church of Henniker. There will be a reception at the Congregational Church Parish House immediately following the ceremony. In lieu of flowers, donations in the memory of Janet W. Morrison may be made to the Congregational Church of Henniker, PO Box 625, Henniker NH, 03242. Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home and Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
