Vivian M. Allen, 81, of 127 Maple Street, Henniker, NH, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning at home, accompanied by her loving family, after a long period of failing health.

 She was born July 2, 1927, daughter of John and Gertrude Gainey.  She had resided in Henniker since 2001.  She was predeceased by her husband Joseph Allen May 13, 1997 whom she married January 15, 1944, in Troy, NY.

 She is survived by her sister Jane Gervais of Troy, NY, by her daughter Bonita, wife of Dr. David Conway, with whom she lived in Henniker and, by her son, William, of Ocean View, DE.  Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

 There will be no visitation.  Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

 Memorials, if desired, can be made to the Tucker Free Library P.O. Box 688 Henniker, NH 03242, the staff of which assisted her greatly with her love of reading.
