Richard "Arab" Louie Morris Labnon
|
Richard “Arab” Louie Morris Labnon passed away on Sept 13, 2009 after a courageous fight with Parkinson ’s disease. He was born in Berlin , NH on April 19, 1927 the son of Morris and Rose (Habib) Labnon. He attended area schools and was a US Army Veteran. Before pursuing his college education, he played professional baseball with the Brave’s Organization. Richard attended and graduated from New England College in 1954. Upon graduation he relocated to Henniker, NH where he became a life long resident. For many years he owned and operated Dick’s Men Shoppe. In the latter part of his life, he worked side by side with his son Kevin in operating their family produce business in which he retired from in 1990. He will be best remembered for his larger than life personality, his passion for his family and baseball and most importantly for his acts of kindness to those less fortunate then him. The “Arab” stories will never be forgotten. Members of his family include his daughter Patricia Ann Labnon of Waterbury, VT, 2 Sons Kenneth Labnon of Henniker, NH and Kevin Labnon of Henniker NH; 1 Sister Josephine Weston of Naples, Fl, 2 Brothers, Philip Labnon of Tilton, NH, and Robert Labnon of Berlin, NH, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife Lorraine (Guitard) Labnon in 1973, his parents Morris and Rose, sister Emily and brothers Ralph “Navy” and Raymond Labnon. A special remembrance to Thos Hardiman and family for being lifelong friends. Services were held in Berlin, NH on Sept 16, 2009. We are externally grateful to the staff at the Charles Tilton Unit at the New Hampshire Veterans Home for their kindness, compassion and dignity shown to our father for the brief 4 months spent in their care.
