Geraldine B French

 

Geraldine B French, 81, of Henniker, NH, died November 22, 2009 at the Hillsboro House Nursing Home. 

Jerry was born and raised in Henniker, where she established her life.  She married Richard A. French, also of Henniker, 60 years ago in August.  Together they raised their four children, Pam, Janis, Ric, and Melainie.  All four children also reside in Henniker, Pam Michie with husband Alan, Janis Poland with husband Charles, Ric French with wife Dawn, and Melanie Connor with husband Patrick.

Some of Jerry’s favorite times were spent with family and friends on Mink Island at Lake Winnipesaukee.  She also loved spending winters in Florida and traveling with her husband.   She enjoyed reading and listening to classical music.

Jerry will forever be known as an avid knitter.  She owned her own knitting shop in Henniker, “Needle Light” where she sold high quality yarns and her own handmade goods.  She was always willing to teach anyone how to knit and helped many solve knitting problems they encountered.  Her legacy will live on in her countless “Nan Knits” that many have and will continue to enjoy.

Among some of Jerry’s greatest joys were her grandchildren:  Jason Michie, Jessica Michie Prieto, Johanna Michie Hauptman, Chad Poland, Trinity French, Nathan French, Ross Connor, and Shelbie Connor as well as six great grandchildren.  She is also survived by two sisters, Edith Hadley of Henniker and June Wentworth of Hooksett, many nieces and nephews.  Jerry was predeceased by both of her parents, Leonard P. Buxton and Annie (Davison) Buxton, two brothers Philip L. Buxton, Francis H. Buxton, and one sister Natalie B. Coleman, all of Henniker.  Jerry was also predeceased by a granddaughter, Nadia Poland and a daughter in-law, Barbara D. French, also of Henniker.

Visiting hours will be on Friday, November 27, 2009 from 4:00PM until 6:00PM at Holt- Woodbury Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Henniker, NH.

 Immediately following will be a gathering to celebrate Jerry’s life, please join us at the Pancake House in Henniker, NH.
