Edward J. Nitschke, 88 of Concord, NH, died Sunday June 14, 2009 at the Hospice House in Concord, NH.

 Born in Schenectady, New York, before moving to Concord, NH in 2004, Edward was the son of the late Edward J. and Catherine J. (Pritchard) Nitschke.

 Edward was a Manager of Building Aesthetics of the Niskayuna School District (New York) and a Maintenance Supervisor for the Schenectady Jewish Community Center (New York) for many years before his retirement. He was an active member and treasurer of the Town of Rexford (New York) Fire Department and a member of the Niskayuna Elks (New York). Additionally, he was a WWII Army Veteran.

 Survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary E. (Thomas) Nitschke, of Concord, NH, his daughter, Debra A. Nitschke-Shaw and son-in-law Edward H. Shaw, of Henniker NH, two grandchildren, Nathaniel H. Shaw and his wife Alison B. Shaw, of Weare, NH, and Lindsay L. Shaw, of Henniker, NH, and one great grandchild, Campbell H. Shaw, of Weare, NH.

 Funeral Services will be held  Friday, June 19 at 1 PM in the Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home and Cremation Service 19 Hall Ave. Henniker, NH. The Reverend MacLeod will officiate.

 Burial will follow in the NH Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH.

 Donations may be made in his name to the Hospice House, P.O. Box 1797, Concord, NH 03302.
