Bessie Grace (Varney) Corliss, 82, of Hillsboro, N.H., died Saturday, January 23, 2010 at the Concord Hospital.

                        Born in New Haven, Vermont, Bessie was the daughter of Robert A. and Ruth I. (Grant) Varney. She worked for the Central Vermont Medical Center for many years until she moved to Hillsboro, New Hampshire and married Norman H. Corliss. He predeceased her in 1993.

                        Bessie was active in many community organizations and church activities.  She was especially fond of her volunteer work at the Hillsboro-Deering Elementary School.

                        She is survived by two sons, Michael J. Ferrari of Belvidere, VT and Douglas Haggett of Brookfield, VT; one daughter, Sandra Getz of Jupiter, FL; two sisters, Emma A. Savard of Merritt Island, FL and Theresa Mae Stearns of Montpelier, VT, and Stepchildren, Deborah Ann Glass, Susan Lee Charron, and Norman C Corliss. She was proud of her many grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed sharing photographs of them with everyone she met.

                        Bessie will be missed by all whose lives she touched.

                        A celebration of her life will be held at the Smith Memorial Church in Hillsboro, NH on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 2:00 p.m.

                        In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Deborah Society of the Smith Memorial Church, 30 West Main St., Hillsboro, NH, 03244 or to the Hillsboro Heritage Museum, P.O. Box 896, Hillsboro, NH 03244.
